Tips for choosing the right lingerie

Tips for choosing the right lingerie

For most people, they think of lingerie as sexy, kinky pieces that seem so hard to put on, only to be quickly thrown to the floor a few minutes later.

Getting yourself some ridiculously sexy lingerie is fun for surprising your partner on your anniversary or for a special occasion, or for just making yourself feel oh so good and sexy!

But oftentimes, women face a different problem once they get the lingerie they want: it sits in the back of the cabinet to just be worn a few times a year.

Rethink the role of lingerie in your everyday life. They don’t have to be super sexy and complicated (although it would be nice to get a few of those stuff, too). A good starting point would be to have a thoughtfully chosen lingerie collection that you can wear every day — that’ll seriously amp up your sexual confidence!

Lingerie shopping can be a bit daunting at first, so here are a few tips to help you choose the right lingerie that will help you feel confident, beautiful, and sexy every day.

Know your options

Before you start shopping, you should know the different types of lingerie available — and, nope, panty sets aren’t the only type of lingerie out there!

A bodysuit, or also known as a teddy, is a one-piece set that combines a bra and underwear. Another one-pice set is the romper. It has shorts instead of underwear for a playful and casual look.

A bralette is a bra that has no underwire, and is often made of lace.

The corset is one of the first and oldest women’s garments. It clings to the body to accentuate the curves and give a stunning hourglass figure.

A chemise is a short dress typically made of silk or satin, and looks good on its own or paired with matching thongs.

A robe can be either short or long, and often made of luxurious fabrics like silk. It can be worn on its own or to top off a sexy piece underneath.

Know your body type

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to lingerie. Everyone has different proportions and body types, and certain types of lingerie may be ideal for one but not the other.

For those with a small frame and would like to add more curves, go for a padded or an underwire half cup bra. Lace, ruffles, and extra frills will also add more dimension. On the other hand, athletic body types would look good in pretty lace bralettes with V-shaped necklines.

If you have a fuller figure and are blessed with beautiful curves, you’d want to highlight them while drawing attention away from certain areas you might not be so confident about. Your best bet would be a full cup bra or a sheer chemise that can cover your belly but flaunt your cleavage.

Take note that these are just general body type suggestions. It’s much easier to work WITH your body than AGAINST it. Don’t be afraid to try a piece that you really like — if you find the right fit, it will surely flaunt your best assets.

Consider your comfort and style

Some clothes and lingerie look good on the supermodel wearing it, but it may look and feel different when you wear it.

Invest in lingerie pieces that make you feel comfortable and reflect your personal style. Even if your main reason for buying lingerie is to surprise your partner, you first have to feel good about what you’re wearing. The more comfortable you are, the more sexy and beautiful you’ll feel.

If this is your first time buying lingerie, start with simple pieces such as bra and panty sets. Pay attention to the fabric as well. You’ll want to wear something that is comfortable to wear all night long, such as cotton, silk, and polyester blends. Also, watch out for lace and other embellishments because they’re often made of scratchy materials.

Consider the occasion

There are different outfits that suit different occasions, and the same goes for lingerie.

Bodysuits are great for relaxing and laid-back days, while bra and panty sets in neutral colors are suitable for everyday wear and almost all your outfits. If you’re looking for something to wear for Valentine’s Day or a weekend getaway with your partner, it’s your chance to get in touch with your wild and creative side! Try new fabrics or materials (leather is so hot, y’know!), and experiment with different colors (ever tried red, gold or violet before?).

Final reminders

Choosing lingerie isn’t just about wearing pieces that you think will make you look sexy. Rather, it’s more about having fun and feeling confident in your chosen lingerie. So when you’re trying on things, pay attention to how you react. Don’t settle for something that makes you think “this looks good on me, I guess.” Go for something that makes you feel like you’re the most beautiful woman in the world! Remember that it’s good to feel beautiful and sexy, so wear whatever makes you feel that way.
