Of the many sex positions that are humanly possible, the cowgirl is sometimes perceived with some negativity. It is, after all, a position wherein the woman takes the reins and leads the way while the man lies on his back.

What is it?

The cowgirl position, also known as the “woman-on-top” position, is a common sex position wherein the woman straddles or “rides” her partner. She takes control, positioning herself on top, and using her hips, she can control the depth, pace, and angle of penetration.

Because of the amount of effort the lady has to put in, it’s easy to think that the cowgirl is a position for lazy men. But we’ll be breaking that connotation down!

How do we #DoItRight?

There are still things men can do when their ladies’ are on top, and it’s actually even possible for guys to provide a lot of stimulation even when they’re down on their backs.

Move what you can

Although your hips, legs, and feet won’t have the same freedom of movement as in other sex positions, there are still ways to actively engage and enhance the experience when she’s in the saddle. 

Pay close attention to your partner’s rhythm and sync up with her by using your hips to grind or undulate in harmony with her movement. 

Much of your upper body will be free to move during a cowgirl, so use your arms and hands. That means you could touch her face, breasts, or love handles. If she’s into choking, then you know what to do.

Be vocal
